Now, let’s dive into the specifics that make the Ride1Up 700 Series a top contender in the electric commuter bike market.

Battery Range

When it comes to electric bikes, the battery range is a pivotal aspect, dictating the distance you can cover on a single charge. The Ride1Up 700 Series excels in this department, showcasing impressive mileage in both Pas1 and Pas5 modes. The Pedal Assist System, commonly known as Pas, is a signatory feature in electric bikes like the Ride1Up 700 Series. This technology involves a sensor that detects the rider’s pedaling cadence and provides assistance from the electric motor accordingly. In the case of the Ride1Up 700 Series, it offers a range of Pas modes, with Pas1 being a lower level of assistance and Pas5 providing a higher level of power boost.

In Pas1, the e-bike boasts a remarkable range of over 45 miles, providing the freedom to embark on extensive journeys without the concern of battery depletion. Even in the more power-demanding Pas5 mode, the Ride1Up 700 Series delivers a commendable range of  27.64 miles, ensuring you can confidently tackle longer commutes or leisure rides without the constant worry of running out of battery power.

Bafang 750W geared hub motor

The beating heart of the Ride1Up 700 series is its powerful Bafang 750W geared hub motor. Opting for a geared hub motor proved to be a strategic choice, providing appreciable low-end and high torque power, a feature we experienced firsthand in our extensive testing. While the e-bike may not boast the absolute fastest acceleration, it performs admirably, reaching 0-20 mph in a brisk 13 seconds on flat ground using the throttle. What stands out is the motor’s smooth and controlled power delivery, ensuring a seamless experience once you get up to speed. Our uphill acceleration tests further highlighted its prowess, demonstrating remarkable power when climbing our challenging test hills. Starting from a standstill, the motor accelerated up the hill’s moderate pitch to 16 mph, slowing only mildly to 14 mph on the steep sections near the top, outpacing many other bikes in similar conditions. This robust motor also shined in our range tests, maintaining an impressive average speed of 17.2 mph over 32.4 mph on gently rolling hills while relying solely on the throttle.

Handling and Comfort:

The Ride1Up 700 Series isn’t just about speed and power; it’s about delivering a ride that’s smooth, secure, and responsive. Our team of reviewers rigorously tested the handling and braking capabilities of this e-bike to provide you with real-world insights.

The inclusion of a 100mm suspension fork, potent hydraulic disc brakes, and name-brand components speaks volumes about the value packed into this model. The 700-Series takes comfort up a notch with high-volume tires and a 100mm front suspension, ensuring a well-damped ride. While it favors smoother surfaces, it adeptly absorbs shocks from cracks, bumps, and road imperfections, providing a more pleasant experience than many counterparts. Striking a balance between relaxed comfort-style models and more aggressive city-style bikes, its handling is just right—neither overly zippy nor sluggish. The stability of the 27.5-inch wheels, substantial tires, extended wheelbase, and considerable weight is evident at higher speeds and during pedal-assisted bursts at 28 mph. The bike excels in medium to long-radius turns while remaining maneuverable in tighter spots and at lower speeds.

Comfort levels are paramount in the 700-Series, with a thoughtfully designed XR/step-over frame accommodating riders up to 6’4″ and a total weight capacity of 275 lbs. The ST/step-through frame variant caters to users between 5’0″ to 6’2″. The adjustable seatpost, quick-release clamp, and adaptable handlebar contribute to a personalized fit. The Selle Royal seat and VELO faux leather ergonomic grips add to the overall agreeable experience, making the Ride1Up 700 Series a standout choice for riders seeking both performance and comfort.

This remarkable feat not only underscores its capability to handle demanding uphill stretches but also positions the Ride1Up 700 Series as a reliable and robust choice for riders navigating diverse landscapes.

During our range tests on the hill climb, the 700-Series exhibited an outstanding average speed of 17.2 mph over a substantial distance of 32.4 miles. This test, conducted on gradually rolling hills using throttle-only mode, showcased the motor’s exceptional ability to maintain high speeds while ascending.
